MY PROCESS

STEP ONE: BRAINSTORMING AND PLANNING

Like I've done with most of my creative processes, I began with brainstorming. I went through several processes to come up with ideas and then began to clarify my ideas and plan out the execution of my case study. I did this process on paper rather than, because it was the most direct way to get my ideas out before refining them on a computer.

STEP TWO: USER JOURNEY

A good way to break down the user's actions through the Netflix service was doing a mind map. This deconstructed the functions that I'm used to going through every day, and therefore allowed me to think about each individual action and analyze the way the app responds to the user. This process helped me identify problems in the user experience design and begin thinking about how I could make improvements.

STEP THREE: USER TASK

To go through a task that I'm used to performing multiple times a day in such attentive detail was a great way to apply critical thinking to each step that I took and each frustration that I had. I was also able to notice small details in the mannerisms of Netflix that improved my experience, and had been taken for granted before.

STEP FOUR: EVALUATION

After going through thorough deconstructions of the user's journey and behaviours throughout the Netflix web page, I was finally able to use the information that I had gathered. I created comprehensive list of aspects of Netflix that I enjoyed, as well as things that I found could be improved. When looking at problems within the web page, I thought about and ways in which improvements could be applied to better the user's experience.
